India’s racing sensation and Formula V6 Asia by Renault championship points leader, Karun Chandhok (Team E-Rain) in a sensationally fast paced outing swept both pole positions for the double header weekend.

He also finally beat the year-long record for the fastest lap around Zhuhai International Circuit set by Frenchman Christophe Bouchut in 2005 by 0.63seconds. Chandhok set a time of 1:30.033 in an extremely close session, where the top four Formula V6 Asia cars qualified within 0.6 of a second.

The top six lineup remains the same for both Super Sprint sessions with New Zealand driver Matt Halliday (Team Meritus) in second, Taiwanese Hanss Lin (Team E-Rain) in third, newcomer and China’s racing hero Marchy Lee (Team Meritus), Indonesian driver Ananda Mikola (Eurasia Motorsport) and American driver Seth Ingham from CT Motorsport completing the top six.

For round 9’s Super Sprint these drivers will be followed by Champ Motorsport’s Michael Ho (Macau), last minute entrant American driver Tim Barber, Taiwanese Jeffrey Lee (Champ Motorsport) followed by the two Singaporean drivers Denis Lian (Racing For Singapore) and Privateer Hafiz Koh.

Completing Sunday’s round 11 Super Sprint lineup are Lian and J.Lee followed by Champ Motorsport’s new driver Adderly Fong. The sixteen year old will take Ho’s seat for rounds 11 & 12 of the weekend. While Koh completes the grid in eleventh.

The first 12-lap Super Sprint session (round 9) will be held on Saturday, 21 October at 11.20am followed by the 20-lap Grand Race (round 10) at 2.20pm.

On Sunday, 22 October the 12-lap Super Sprint session (round 11) will begin at 9.50am and the 20-lap Grand Race (round 12) at 1.40pm.

AFOS Zhuhai will be broadcast live on Zhuhai TV (Channel 2), Guangzhou TV Competition Channel, Guangxi TV Sports Channel, Fujian TV Sports Channel from 2.30pm to 4.10pm on Saturday, 21st October and from 1.30pm to 3.10pm on Sunday, 22nd October.

The event will also be broadcast live on Guangdong TV Sports Channel from 4.00pm to 5.30pm on Saturday, 21st October and from 3.20pm to 4.50pm on Sunday, 22nd October.
